In a Texas Holdem or Omaha poker game, the poker players in the first and second seats to the left of the dealer are both required to place a compulsory bet. The first seat must put in the small blind and the second seat must put in the big blind, which is usually double the amount of the small blind. The blinds move one position clockwise after every hand deal.
A forced bet to open ensure action, usually in lieu of an ante.
