A Blind or Blind bet is a bet that is placed before the hand is dealt. In Texas Hold'em, typically the two players to the left of dealer are forced to place blinds.

The two players to the left of the dealer are both required to post blinds. Blinds are used much like antes in order to start off the betting. One position to the left of the dealer is referred to as the Small Blind, while 2 positions to the left of the dealer is referred to as the Big Blind. As the deal or dealer button rotates around the table, the blinds change accordingly.
