Text Encoding Initiative An initiative that publishes Document Type Definitions catering to a wide range of academic electronic text projects. Books, manuscripts, collections of poetry, and other kinds of literary and linguistic texts for online research and teaching that are available electronically are encoded in TEI. Terminal End-point Identifier. An identifier provided by the telephone company that identifies terminal equipment on an ISDN interface.

TEI stands for Terminal End Identifier. The local switching station, or with an internal S0 the PBX, automatically or permanently assigns each end device a TEI. This simply allows the addressing of the D channels. TEIs have the following values: 0-63 = permanent TEIs (e.g. 0 is used for point to point connections) 64-126 = automatically assigned 127 = broadcast to all devices (e.g. an incoming call)

(Terminal Endpoint Identifier): An address used at layer 2 to manage individual devices connecting to the ISDN network. The TEI is typically dynamically negotiated with the ISDN switch. The range is from 0 till 127 : TEI value : 0 : for Point-to-point service ( as it is for PRI ). 1 till 63 : fixed assigned 64 till 126 : dynamically assigned by Switch 127 : Broadcast to send frame to all attached device on the BUS ( for example : used by Link management ( SAPI : 63 )).

Terminal Endpoint Identifier. A terminal endpoint can be any ISDN-capable device attached to an ISDN network. The TEI is a number between 0 and 127, where 0 through 63 are used for static TEI assignment, 64 through 126 are used for dynamic assignment, and 127 is used for group assignment.
