Color Look Up Table. A table--it can be in hardware or software form--that contains information on the mixing of red, green and blue color intensity in a palette.
A table which assigns a discrete value to every colour available at any one time, so that graphics can be encoded quickly using these convenient table addresses rather than the less accessible 'absolute values' of the entire RGB colour range.
Color Lookup Table (or Palette) a table used to choose which of 256 colors are used in 8-bit, Indexed color. Every computer has a built-in (ŒSystem¹) CLUT; else the image has to provide it.
Another term for a correction table, a CLUT is a color-management software reference file that maintains the proper calibration of devices, such as monitors, printers and scanners. (See also, LUT.)
(Color Look-Up Tables) A digital color processing technique that is employed when the display system is not capable of reproducing all of the colors available in the image. This presents the best possible combination of colors on the display for predicting accurate color for the output.
display:(Color Look-Up Table) A table containing all the colors that a specific image uses, mapping color codes to particular color values. CLUTs usually contain 256 colors (8 bits) but can hold many, many more if the video card can handle it. Often the CLUT (called a palette by some applications) can be customized for the needs of the particular image on display. In graphics programs, the currently active window uses its CLUT for the whole screen, which can make the images in other windows look temporarily discolored (with 8-bit or less color).
Color look-up table. An area in computer memory where a set of values is used to index another set of values. Since the table of pixel color information is stored, the information does not have to be recomputed each time it is called up.
A digital color-processing tool for converting color from one color space or device to another, such as from RGB (scale, 0-255) to CMYK (0-100%)
Color lookup table. An index that maps a limited range color values to a full range of values such as RGB or YUV.
Color Lookup Table. A palette of colors within image editing applications and system software.
Colour Lookup Table - a colour indexing system allowing computers to appear to display greater colour depth than they are capable of by rounding a colour value down to one that it can display.
A Colour Look-Up Table (CLUT) is a device which converts the logical colour numbers stored in each pixel of video memory into physical colours, normally represented as RGB triplets, that can be displayed on a computer monitor. The palette is simply a block of fast RAM which is addressed by the logical colour and whose output is split into the red, green and blue levels which drive the actual display (e.g., a CRT or Cathode Ray Tube).
