A standard format developed by the ICC for a data file that describes the color behavior of an input, display, or output device, or a color model, by referencing it to a device-independent color model such as CIE XYZ or CIELAB. Used in almost all current color-management systems.
a cross-platform, industry standard file format containing information about the color space, or range of absolute color values, of a device or image
a description of a color space that helps reproduce colors in another medium (printing, monitor etc
a file that describes how a particular device reproduces color, in this case our Fuji Frontier Printers
a file that describes how a scanner, monitor or printer reproduces colour
a standardized color profile that conforms to the International Color Consortium specification to ensure transportability between different platforms and devices
ICC (International Color Consortium) profiles represent the color space of a specific substrate, ink, printer, monitor or capture device. Each of these elements have their own unique color gamut. This is due to the fact that every element is able to achieve a different level of color. ICC profiles can be applied in the edit process or the RIP software.
A file format which specifies the transformation of color from a device-dependent format to a device-independent colorspace
A standardized color profile conforming to the ICC specification to ensure transportability between differing platforms and devices. See also ICC, Profile.
A data file which describes how a device (monitor, scanner, printer, testing equipment etc.) reproduces color (meaning inside the concrete color spaces). Necessary for color management.
A standard file format used to describe the color space of a monitor, scanner and printer.
The International Colour Consortium, a group that sets standard guidelines for colour management in the imaging world. Click here to read their FAQs about colour management and ICC profiles and the like. Most printers, monitors and scanners as well as digital cameras, usually come with a driver disc for Windows and Mac systems that includes ICC profiles for the particular device. Colour profiles simply let one piece of hardware or software "know" how another device or image created its colours and how they should be interpreted or reproduced.
A file or set of data that applies values to maintain color consistency from device to device. ICC stands for International Color Consortium, the forum responsible for the standards.
ICC (International Color Consortium) Profiles describe the color attributes of a particular device or viewing requirement by defining a mapping between the source or target color space and a profile connection space (PCS). This PCS is either L*a*b* or CIE XYZ color space. Mappings may be done using tables, to which interpolation is applied, or through a series of parameters for transformations.
