An assistive technology device is equipment needed to improve, increase or maintain abilities and function for a child with a disability. Assistive technology devices include equipment for augmentative communication, visual and listening aids, mobility aids, and computer access and instruction.

Any item, piece of equipment, or product that is used to increase, maintain, or improve functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities. Assistive technology needs are determined by the IEP team.
