sunrise is a port of the wmSun dockapp to SuperKaramba. It shows the sunrise and sunset times for your location.
The first appearance of the sun above the horizon in the morning; more generally, the time of such appearance, whether in fair or cloudy weather; as, to begin work at sunrise.
the time that the sun is first seen in the sky in the morning from a particular location
the first light of day; "we got up before dawn"; "they talked until morning"
atmospheric phenomena accompanying the daily appearance of the sun
the daily event of the sun rising above the horizon
Local mean time at which the upper limb of the sun is seen to emerge above the true horizon.
The time of day the Sun’s apparent upper edge first appears at the eastern horizon (“true horizon”). All horizons are considered at sea level. sunPATH calculates the time and azimuth when the TOP of the Sun first appears at the “true horizon,” accounting for standard atmospheric refraction at sea level and ignoring terrain features. (The azimuth and altitude calculations during the day are for the CENTER of the Sun.)
The time when the upper limb of the sun appears above the sensible horizon as a result of the diurnal rotation of the earth (no adjustment made for elevation of observer or atmospheric refraction).
The daily appearance of the sun on the eastern horizon as a result of the earth's rotation. Time of sunrise is calculated for mean sea level.
Sunrise, also called sunup in some American English dialects, is the time at which the first part of the Sun appears above the horizon in the east. Sunrise should not be confused with dawn, which is the (variously defined) point at which the sky begins to lighten, some time before the sun itself appears, ending twilight. Because atmospheric refraction causes the sun to be seen while it is still below the horizon, both sunrise and sunset are, from one point of view, optical illusions.
