A five year programme for spending on transportation submitted to the Department for Transport (bidding for funding) by the County Council with an annual progress report.
a five-year document, as I think everyone knows
Local transport plans are five year integrated transport strategies that cover all modes of urban and rural transport and link them together.
A document that covers all forms of transport and is designated to co-ordinate and improve local transport provision.
A five year, countywide plan that responds to transport issues and concerns, including increased traffic, road accidents, alternatives to the car, public transport, air pollution and road maintenance.
A five-year integrated transport strategy, prepared by local authorities in partnership with the community, seeking funding to help provide local transport projects. The plan sets out the resources predicted for delivery of the targets identified in the strategy. Local transport plans should be consistent with the policies and priorities set out in the Regional Transport Strategy as an integral part of the Regional Spatial Strategy.
Local Transport Plans (Full Local Transport Plans or LTPs, and Local Implementation Plans for Transport or LIPs) are an important part of transport planning in England. Strategic Transport Authorities (County Councils, Unitary Authorities) and London Borough Council's, are expected to prepare them as forward-looking plans covering a number of years (typically five years), and present them to the Department for Transport (DfT). Slightly different arrangements apply to Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland as transport is a devolved matter.
