An ad positioned in the middle of a page (floating), surrounded by editorial material.
a print advertisement that is surrounded on all sides by non-advertising or editorial matter on the same page; usually sold at an extra charge. For example, an advertisement placed in the middle of a magazine page, with the words of a feature article surrounding the ad on all four sides. Can refer to any print advertisement that is not adjacent to any other advertising, or to a broadcast commercial aired away from any other commercial, with program content immediately before and after.
