Definitions for "Incremental backups"
(1) A function that allows users to back up files or directories that are new or have changed since the last incremental backup. With this function, users can back up files or directories from a client domain that are not excluded in the include-exclude list and that meet the requirements for frequency, mode, and serialization as defined in the backup copy group of the management class assigned to the files. (2) A Storage Manager function that copies only the transaction logs for the database that are new or changed since the last full or incremental backup. Contrast with full backup.
A backup of what has changed in a filesystem since the last full backup. Incremental backups if used sensibly as part of a backup regime, can save a lot of time and effort in maintaining a backup of data.
Backups the files that have been modified since the last backup.
