The difference between an observation and a fixed value.
(n) A tolerancing measure used to describe the difference between the size of a produced part and the basic size. DFM (n) See design for manufacturability.
The difference between the value of a specific variable and some desired value, usually a process set point.
Departure from prescribed internal control. Often expressed as a rate at which the departure occurs.
A departure by a ship from the agreed customary route of the voyage with the intention of returning to that route to complete the voyage. Where the ship deviates without lawful excuse the underwriter, unless the policy provides otherwise, is discharged from all liability from the time the vessel deviates and insurance cover does not reattach if and when the vessel regains her original course.
In numerical data sets, the difference or distance of an individual observation or data value from the center point (often the mean) of the set distribution.
Departure of an observation from its expected value.
() ( Man.). A departure from the prescription of a working plan. () ( Stat.). The difference between any particular observation in a set of observations and the arithmetic mean of the set. ( BCFT modf.).
the difference of a score from the mean.
A departure from a desired value or expected value or pattern.
(1) Departure of a borehole from vertical. See deviated hole, drift, and directional survey.(2) Angle measured between tool axis and vertical as in dipmeter or dip log.
the difference between an observed value and the expected value of a variable or function
The difference between what occurs and a fixed value.
How far a score is from the mean
movement to the side or departure from a straight line in a sideways direction
A value that differs significantly from an expected value. OLAP Miner calculates the expected value of a selected cell by averaging values in all dimensions that intersect that cell.
The difference between the measured value of the controlled condition and the set point of the controller at any instant.
A departure from established requirements. Deviations occur when the work product either fails to meet or unnecessarily exceeds the requirements. [D00537] 02 10-2 QMPP Difference (from a project plan, budget, etc.) [D00535] NPMT Written authorization, granted prior to the manufacture of an item, to depart from a part icular performance or design requirement of a contract, specification, or referenced document, for a specific number of units or specific period of time. [D00536] 04 5010.19 QMPP Any variation from plan ned performance. The deviation can be in terms of schedule, cost, performance, or scope of work. Deviation analysis is the heart of exercising project control. [D03716] PPS&C p339 The change, plus or minus, from a control estimate or control curve. [D04967] SCL A noticeable or marked departure from the appropriate norm, plan, standard, procedure, or variable being review ed. [D05174] SA-CMM
The difference, usually the absolute difference, between a number and the mean of a set of numbers, or between a forecast value and the actual value.
A difference between an individual record and the average for that trait for that contemporary group. These differences sum to zero when the correct average is used.
Departure from the norm or expected. Often expressed as a rate at which the departure occurs.
difference between 3D coordinate of two points, generally between as-designed vs. as-built
The difference between the value of the controlled variable and the value at which it is being controlled.
The difference between any one measurement and the mean of the set of scores.
(1) A departure from a current clearance, such as an off-course manoeuvre, to avoid weather or turbulence. Fr: déviation (2) The angular difference between magnetic and compass headings. Fr: déviation
The departure of a vessel from the course laid down for it or, if no course has been laid down, from the customary course.
The departure in degrees between the drill hole or probe axis and vertical.
Any departure from the Captain's orders.
A noticeable or marked departure from the appropriate norm, plan, standard, procedure, or variable being reviewed. Similar to variance.
(Also called departure.) In statistics, the difference between two numbers. It is commonly applied to the difference of a variable from its mean, or to the difference of an observed value from a theoretical value. See standard deviation, geostrophic departure.
In mathematics and statistics, deviation is a measure of difference for interval and ratio variables between the observed value and the mean. The sign of deviation, either positive or negative, indicates whether the deviation is laerger than or smaller than the mean. The magnitude of the value reports how different (in the relevant numerical scale) an observation is from the mean.
