ASE's mission is to improve the quality of vehicle repair and service through the testing and certification of repair and service professionals.
Automotive Service Excellence. A non-profit organization for the testing and certification of vehicle service technicians. To be "ASE certified" implies a technician has passed one or more of the organization's exams.
Alberta Stock Exchange. Founded through the incorporation of the Calgary Stock Exchange in 1913; trading activity is closely tied to oil and gas discoveries in western Canada; under a restructuring agreement between Canada's exchanges, was combined with the VSE to form the Canadian Venture Exchange (CDNX); in 2001, the CDNX was taken over by the Toronto Stock Exchange.
Amplified Spontaneous Emissions. Noise that is added to an optical signal when it is amplified. This noise (or ASE) accumulates and builds in optical spans that have multiple optical amplifiers between regenerators.
Amman Stock Exchange. The only agency authorized as a formal market for trading securities in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
Amplified Spontaneous Emission. A background noise mechanism common to all types of erbium-doped fiber amplifiers ( EDFAs). It contributes to the noise figure of the EDFA which causes a loss of signal-to-noise ratio (SNR).
The second largest stock exchange in the US is located in the financial district of New York City at 86 Trinity Place. As a general rule, the securities traded on the AMEX are those of small to mid-size corporations. The AMEX also trades options of many NYSE securities and some OTC securities.
