Definitions for "Overcurrent"
A current higher than the current a conductor or electrical component can safely handle.
An abnormal operating condition of an electronic drive that causes current in the drive to exceed the current limit setting. See current limit. This is typically caused by a short circuit, either internal or on the drive's output. The drive protects itself by shutting off the output.
A current exceeding the rated value. For conductors, the rated value is the current-carrying capacity.
