To join, as the electrodes of a battery or dynamo or any two points of a circuit, by a conductor of low resistance.
Short-circuit occurs when a metallic wrie or a metallic object is placed between the contacts of a battery. This causes electricity to flow without any resistance. Due to the reduced resistance a large amount of electricity flows producing a lot of heat. This can lead to a fire hazard.
An abnormal path of little or no resistance across the terminals of a circuit, resulting in an excessive flow of current.
