Mozilla is a project to continue Netscape Communicator as an open project. The project is maintained by employees of Netscape , RedHat, some other companies, as well as contributors from the community.
Another name for Netscape Navigator. The first part of the name is a reference to the Mosaic browser. The second part, "zilla" is an obvious reference to "Godzilla". Mozilla is also the name of the Netscape's fire-breathing mascot.
