This is the generic term for the cabling from the wiring closet out to another wiring closet or to the Consolidation Point when a zone solution is implemented. Feeder cable is terminated in wiring closets, and on the back of the Consolidation Point modules by the datacomm contractor during the initial installation.
The feeder cables are branches off the main trunk cable. Feeder cables lead out into different geographic areas serviced by the provider.
In a CATV system, the transmission cable from the head end(signal pickup)to the trunk amplifier. Also called a trunk cable.
The cable which feeds or supplies power to a dimmer rack. Feeder cable is usually heavy gauge cable capable of safely carrying the hundreds of amps necessary to supply as many as 96 individual dimmers in a rack. Feeder cables are usually connected via Camlock connectors. A bare-end or tail often connects one end of a feeder to the power supply or company switch.
