Capable of being broken down by biodegradation, photo degradation, or chemical degradation into component parts within 360 days under exposure to the elements.
capable of being broken down into smaller elements under specific conditions. A biodegradable product can be broken down by micro-organisms such as bacteria under specific conditions. A photodegradable product will break down in the presence of light. Degradability is not considered an environmental benefit for items destined for landfill, since wastes in a sanitary landfill are deprived of air, moisture and light.
