Definitions for "Close Session"
Keywords:  session, disc, toc, prepare, lead
The writing process of the Lead-in and Lead-out at the end of the recording process is called "Close Session" or "Fix." A CD that has not undergone Close Session cannot be read by ordinary CD-ROM drives.
Closing a session on a recordable disc results in directory information being written to the disc's table of contents and a Lead-In area being created in preparation for the next write operation. New sessions can be written (and closed) until a Close Disc operation is performed or remaining disc space is consumed.
When a session is closed, information about its contents is written into the disc's Table of Contents, and a lead-in and lead-out are written to prepare the disc for a subsequent session.
