The upper and main part of the brain, which is the seat of higher mental ability and is essential to the regulation of the emotions.
the left and right halves of the cerebrum. 84
A pair of expanded portions of the cerebrum covered in neural cortex.
The two halves (left and right) of the cerebrum of the vertebrate brain. This is the site of many functions, including conscious thought, sensations, and memory.
the two, larger lateral portions of the brain separated by the longitudinal fissure
the largest portion of the brain, composed of billions of nerve cells in two structures connected by the corpus callosum; the cerebral hemispheres control conscious thought, language, decisionmaking, emotions, movement, and sensory functions.
The two specialized halves of the brain. The left hemisphere is specialized for speech, writing, language, and calculation; the right hemisphere is specialized for spatial abilities, face recognition in vision, and some aspects of music perception and production.
(seh-REE-bral HEM-iss-feerz): The two halves of the cerebrum.
right and left halves of the brain that contain the frontal, temporal, parietal, and occipital lobes; connected to one another by the corpus callosum
The left and right halves of the cerebral cortex. Each hemisphere is divided into four regions or lobes. Reference: B1
Made up of the basal ganglia, hippocampus and amygdala; overlaid by cerebral cortex; affects emotion, learning
Two hemispherical structures that comprise the major part of the forebrain in mammals and serve as the main coordinating center of the nervous system.
The two side-by-side halves of the Cerebrum
This term refers to two halves of the human brain. In most adults, the Left cerebral hemisphere controls voluntary movement of the right hand, arm, and leg; coordinates learned movement patterns (such as playing a piano or writing) for the whole body; enables us to express and comprehend language; processes abstract symbols for reading, writing, and mathematical computation; and allows us to see things that are to our right side. The Right cerebral hemisphere for most adults manages nonverbal processes such as paying attention, recognizing visual patterns (pictures) or sound patterns (tunes), and giving us our bearings in space. It is also important for hand-eye coordination and emotional processing. The two hemispheres of our brain are in constant communication with each other through a massive fiber bundle kown as the corpus callosum. The functions of the two hemispheres are less clearly differentiated in infants than in adults. There seems to be progressively greater lateralization (distinction between the abilities of the two hemispheres) with age, from birth to puberty. However, in most people, language processing is supported mainly by the left hemisphere even at birth.
"The "higher" brain which is the most evolved area of the brain.
The two halves of the cerebrum, the largest part of the brain.
