Stockport is a large town in the north west of England. Situated six miles (10 km) south east of the city of Manchester, it is the largest settlement of the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport of Greater Manchester, and has a population of 136,083 (2001 Census).

Stockport is a parliamentary constituency represented in the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election.
