Definitions for "Source address"
Address of a network device that is sending data. See also destination address.
The portion of a PDU that identifies the originator of the PDU. Source addresses are by implication global addresses. and have their genesis in connectionless architectures. (The originator of information is already implicitly known in a connection-oriented architecture.)
The IP or media access control (MAC) address of the node issuing the packet.
