Double-bay derivative of the domed-up groin vault equipped with extra transverse arch that runs through the intersection of the diagonal ribs. Like the arris of the original groin vault, this extra transverse arch takes its shape in response to the rest of the structure and is therefore geometrically unsatisfactory.
Essentially a four part (Quadripartite) vault to which an additional transverse rib has been incorporated which divides the vault into six segments. This is yet another form which remained distinct to the Gothic period.
Sexpartite vault, in architecture, is a name given to the single bay of a vault, which, in addition to the transverse and diagonal ribs, has been divided by a second transverse rib, forming six compartments.
