Tracts of feathers at the sides of the shoulders. May partially cover wings. A sleeping bird may tuck its head under the scapulars.
The feathers which cover the shoulder of a bird, namely the area where the upperwing joins the body.
The scapulars are short feathers in the area where the bird's back and the wings join. They are generally short, soft and the same color as the back.
