This tells you the additional cost, if any, of a flight of stairs either at the point of origin or the destination. Please note that a third-floor walkup counts as two flights since you are starting on the first floor. Serviceable elevators (an elevator large enough to transport the household goods) eliminate the need to pay this fee.
There are two types of potential Flight or Stair Carry charges. NOTE: not all tariffs have this charge: If stairs are needed to gain access to the goods or deliver them additional charges may apply. If the stairs are located within the residence (inside the home or apartment) then the charges under this rule will not apply. Special Services (Piano or Organ carry charges). Any time an item like a piano is moved up or down in an elevator or on a flight of stairs, regardless of whether within the residence or not, a flight charge will apply in addition to any charges applicable from the above paragraph.
