Definitions for "EDR"
Euro Depositary Receipt. As with other depositary receipts, the EDR is a certificate representing ownership of the issuer's underlying shares. The EDR is denominated and quoted in euros.
European Depositary Receipt. same as Global Depositary Receipt
European Depositary Receipts. Usually listed on a European exchange, represented by a single global certificate, and deposited with a common depository on behalf of Euroclear and CEDEL. Ownership in the EDR is shown on, and transfers thereof are effected through, records maintained by Euroclear and CEDEL. EDRs are not issued in the U.S. and therefore are not subject to regulation by the SEC.
Equivalent direct radiation is the rate of heat transfer from a radiator or convector. It is equivalent to the square feet of surface area necessary to transfer heat at the same rate at which it is produced by a generator. A single boiler horsepower equals 140 ft2 EDR.
Enhanced Data Rate
Excess death rate. The excess death rate for a group of persons of a given age is the difference between the group's death rate and that of a suitable reference group. For example, the mortality rate for U.S. males at age 40 is 0.00316, or 3.16 deaths per thousand person-years (Table 1). If a study shows that the mortality rate for 40-year-old U.S. males who have some chronic disease X is 7.48 per thousand person-years, then the EDR for condition X is 7.48 - 3.16 = 4.32 per thousand.
A body of dispute resolution techniques which avoid the inflexibility of litigation and arbitration, and focus instead on enabling the parties to achieve a better or similar result, with the minimum of direct and indirect cost. The term EDR is used in place of ADR to demonstrate that these techniques have become mainstream, alongside litigation and arbitration.
