n: a tubular device, usually from 10 to 60 feet (3 to 18 meters) long, run in place of a bit and used to cut a core sample.
Pipe-shaped device upon which a cylindrical core is formed.
A length of steel tube designed to receive the core sample as it is being cut by the drill bit. It then retains the core sample until it can be raised to the surface.
