A hormone that may decrease the rate of bone removal; sometimes used in the treatment of osteoporosis
A naturally occurring hormone secreted by the thyroid gland. Calcitonin inhibits bone resorption.
A hormone formed by the C cells of the thyroid gland. It helps maintain a healthy level of calcium in the blood. When the calcium level is too high, calcitonin lowers it.
