Botafogo is a beachfront neighborhood (bairro) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is mostly a middle-class and small commerce community, located between the hills of Mundo Novo, Santa Marta (separating it from Laranjeiras) and Morro de São João (separating it from Copacabana). It is named after João Pereira de Sousa Botafogo, who was its landowner in colonial times.

It is based in the city of São Filipe in the island of Fogo and plays in its stadium. It is one of many teams that only a few titles before (including one in the 1960s) and since independence including one in 1980.
