Running a component in the background using the WebDB batch job facility. An end user can run a component in batch mode by selecting options on the parameter entry form for the component. Batch processing is useful if the component is based on a large amount of data, or if the component displays many rows of data.

A batch job is a UNIX shell script that can be run without user intervention and does not require access to a terminal.
A detached process that sequentially runs one or more command procedures. The user defines the list of command procedures when submitting the job to a batch queue.

A predefined group of processing actions submitted to the system to be performed with little or no interaction between the user and the system. Contrast with interactive job. See also autostart job, communications job, prestart job, scheduled job, spooling job, and system job.
