Definitions for "Zinc "
Keywords:  galvanic, bluish, bronze, brass, zink
An abundant element of the magnesium-cadmium group, extracted principally from the minerals zinc blende, smithsonite, calamine, and franklinite, as an easily fusible bluish white metal, which is malleable, especially when heated. It is not easily oxidized in moist air, and hence is used for sheeting, coating galvanized iron, etc. It is used in making brass, britannia, and other alloys, and is also largely consumed in electric batteries. Symbol Zn. Atomic number 30. Atomic weight 65.38.
To coat with zinc; to galvanize.
Metal Detectors: A penny dated 1982 or after, so called because it is copper-clad zinc. Usually very pitted when dug out of the ground.
As A Treatment" Zinc is an essential trace mineral that occurs in greater amounts than any other trace mineral except iron..."
Essential trace mineral. The functions of zinc are enzymatic. There are over 70 metalloenzymes known to require zinc for their functions. The main biochemicals in which zinc has been found to be necessary include: enzymes and enzymatic function, carbohydrate metabolism and protein synthesis . Zinc is a constituent of insulin and male reproductive fluid. Necessary for the proper metabolism of alcohol, to get rid of the lactic acid that builds up in working muscles and to transfer it to the lungs. Zinc is involved in the health of the immune system, assists vitamin A utilization and is involved in the formation of bone and teeth
A trace mineral used to protect the skin from UV light, infection, bacteria and fungi. It also promotes collagen building, enhances the effects of vitamin A and E, and soothes irritation.
Keywords:  canvases, tcl, widgets, python, affine
Zinc is a Tk widget developed with Perl/Tk, Tcl/Tk and Python/Tk bindings. Zinc widgets are very similar to Tk canvases in that they support structured graphics. Graphical items can be manipulated, and bindings can be associated with them to implement interaction behaviors. But unlike the canvas, zinc can structure the items in a hierarchy, and has support for affine 2D transforms.
Keywords:  mcl, taste, seldom, effluents, ppm
Zinc is seldom found in public water supplies at concentrations over 1 ppm. Because it tends to impact water taste, its concentration in effluents is usually limited to 5 ppm by local sewer authorities.
The MCL is 5 mg/L, because of problems with the aesthetic quality due to the taste of zinc.
