Definitions for "WRIT OF ASSISTANCE"
A court order directed to the sheriff! (or other local official) ordering him to "assist" a party to a pending lawsuit (such as a bank in an eviction action) in obtaining the relief previously granted to the party by the court. An example would be a sheriff assisting a foreclosure sale purchaser in taking possession of the property after foreclosure.
