A canyon, county, and river share this name. Some people claim the name comes from a Dutch sea captain, John H. Weber, a trapper with General Ashley who was killed near the river shortly after his arrival to the area in 1823. Others believe the area was named for Pauline Weaver, an Arizona frontiersman, who was in the area.

Weber is a lunar impact crater on the far side of the Moon, and it can not be viewed directly from the Earth's surface. This crater is attached to the northwest outer rim of the larger Sarton crater. About two crater diameters to the northwest is the eroded Kramers crater.
