Offset printing without the use of dampening solution.
a printing process that runs on offset lithography presses, but without using water. The non-image areas of the plate are coated with silicone, allowing the ink to run off freely into shallow wells, in the plate. Because finer dots can be used in waterless printing, the image is very detailed. The cost for this printing process is high, but the results can be magnificent. see also dryography, offset, plate
A specialized technique of offset printing which uses plates having a silicone rubber coating in non-image areas that is printed on a press with no dampening system.
Printing by offset litho without the use of a damping system. A cooling system takes the place of the damping.
A printing process that runs on offset lithography presses without the use of water. The non-image areas of the plate are coated with silicone so that ink can run off into shallow wells in the plate. Waterless printing supports finer dots and finely detailed images. A relatively new process, it is more expensive than traditional lithography.
In offset, printing on a press using special waterless plates and no dampening system.
See lithography (waterless).
A method of printing in which the plates consist of metal for image areas and rubber for non-image areas for printing without water. Also called driography.
Waterless printing is a method of offset printing which is less environmentally damaging than conventional lithographic printing. Traditionally, printing is a huge consumer of resources, including chemicals, water and energy. Many large presses can consume hundreds of thousands of water per year as part of the normal printing process.
