The act or occupation of covering or lining with boards in panel.
Wainscot was a kind of fancy oak imported from Russia, Holland or Germany. The term ‘wainscotingâ€(tm) was applied to panels that were originally made out of such oak.
The lining on the lower three or four feet of an interior wall, consisting of paneling different from the rest of the wall.
