A dialing method that uses tones as opposed to dial-pulses. Today most phone lines are designed for touch-tone dialing (which is faster and more reliable). Many touch-tone lines will also accept dial pulse signaling, but this is not always the case. Touch-toneĆ¢ is a trademark of AT&T; the generic name is DTMF.
