Tiruchirappalli திருச்சிராப்பள்ளி (also spelt Tiruchchirapalli, commonly known as Tiruchi or Trichy திருச்சி, was also pronounced as Trichinopoly under British rule) is the fifth largest city of the state (next to Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai and Salem) and a municipal corporation in Tiruchirappalli district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is situated on the banks of the Kaveri River, centrally located in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The city is the administrative headquarters of Tiruchirappalli District.
