Theophilus is a prominent lunar impact crater that lies between Sinus Asperitatis in the north and Mare Nectaris to the southeast. It partially intrudes into the comparably-sized Cyrillus crater to the southwest. To the east is the smaller Mädler crater and further to the south-southeast is Beaumont crater.
Teofilo is the name of the person to whom the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles is addressed (Luke 1:3 KJV, p.59).1 No one knows his true identity, and there are many conjectures and traditions around his identity. It is a common name among both Romans and Jews of the era. His life would coincide with the writing of Luke and Acts, sometime between AD 40-85, depending on which tradition one subscribes to.
Theophilus was a religious comic strip founded by illustrator Bob West that was syndicated from February 6, 1966 through April 19, 2002. The strip primarily ran in church newsletters and related publications, but has also run online, appeared in newspapers, been translated into Spanish and French, and appeared in CD-ROM collections and printed anthologies.
