The "teeing ground" is the starting place for the hole to be played. It is a rectangular area two club-lengths in depth, the front and sides of which are defined by the outside limits of two tee-markers. A ball is outside the teeing ground when all of it lies outside the teeing ground.
The area from which the golfer must tee off on a hole. The ball must be teed up within the markers and no more than two club lengths behind them.
In golf, the teeing ground is the area at the beginning of a hole from which the player's first stroke is taken. When referring to the area, the terms "tee" and "teeing ground" are often used interchangeably.
