Snow water equivalent. The depth of water if a snow cover is completely melted, expressed in millimetres, on a corresponding horizontal surface area. Snow water equivalent. How much liquid water is contained in a volume of solid snow (in other words, the amount of water measured from melting a known amount of snow). Snow water content and snow water equivalent are different terms for the same parameter.
