A class which inherits from, or extends, a given class.

An object class that inherits properties, element classes, and Apple events from another object class--its superclass. A subclass can also include properties, element classes, or Apple events that are not inherited from its superclass. Every object class, with the exception of cObject, is a subclass of another object class. See also object class, superclass.

A class B is a subclass of A if B has in it all of the resources and support functions of A (B may have additional resources and support functions as well). If B is a class derived from A, then B is said to inherit its resources and support functions from A. If B is derived from A, then it is also said that B is a subclass of A.

A group of similar objects that is derived from a superclass.

This is also known as Booking Class and is shown on your ticket or in the airline's reservation system. It indicates the eligibility of mileage accrual when you travel.

Or derived class. The class that is derived from another class. A subclass inherits state and behavior from its superclass or superclasses in the form of variables and methods.

Any child class in an inheritance hierarchy is called a subclass. Inherits data and behaviour. Subclasses are derived by a process of specialisation.

Municipalities are authorized under The Cities Act to establish property subclasses within the provincial property classes. The subclass for condominiums was created under the provincial class for residential properties.

A classSchema object that inherits from some other classSchema object. For example, a subclass inherits structure and content rules from the parent object.

A class descended from another one, inheriting its methods and data. In the Class Library supplied with Object COBOL all class are ultimately subclasses of Base.

An object class derived from another object class. The object class from which it is derived is called its superclass.

class that inherits variable s and method s from some other class (its superclass). A subclass is lower in the class hierarchy than its superclass. A subclass is generally a specialization of its superclass--its instance have the same kind of data and behavior as instances of the superclass, plus some of their own. A subclass may also override any of its inherited behavior by redefining inherited methods.

A subclass represents a class of entities that have unique properties defined by the subclass. In addition, those entities also share all the properties of a superclass to whom they are related through a subclassing relationship. They do not share the specialized properties of other sibling subclasses descending from the same superclass. Thus subclassing allows us to further subdivide the entities we have grouped into a general class. (See category on relationships.)

A class below another class in a hierarchy. It inherits attributes and behavior from classes above it. A subclass may be used interchangeably with its superclasses. The class above the subclass is its direct superclass. See superclass, narrowing conversion, and widening conversion.

A widget class that is derived from another class.

In the Objective-C language, any class that's one step below another class in the inheritance hierarchy. Occasionally used more generally to mean any class that inherits from another class, and sometimes also used as a verb to mean the process of defining a subclass of another class.

A subclass is a specialized type of class. Using our cookie example, you might have a Santa cookie cutter, a Frosty the Snowman cookie cutter, and so on. They all are cookie cutters (the abstract class), but they are specialized for a particular type of cookie.

A class that is below another class in a hierarchy, inheriting attributes and behavior from the classes that are above it.

A class that extends another. The subclass inherits the public and protected methods and variables of its superclass. See extends.

class that is the descendant of another class in a sequence of one or more generalisation relationships. In certain contexts, the word subclass will be used where immediate subclass might be more accurate.

A special feature class in a coverage which allows many features of the same class to be defined. Annotation, region, route-system, and section are types of subclasses. For example, a road coverage may have three route-systems stored as subclasses for mail delivery, street cleaning, and garbage pickup.

In object-oriented programming, a subclass is a class that inherits some properties from its superclass.

In set theory and its applications throughout mathematics, a subclass is a class contained in some other class in the same way that a subset is a set contained in some other set.
