Definitions for "Static IP Addressing"
An assigned IP address used to connect to the Internet. The IP address stays with the customer's computer.
An assigned IP address is used to connect to a network or the Internet. A static IP address comes with TransEdge DSL service which allows you to host Web or e-mail servers. With a static IP address businesses can also participate in video conferencing.
For static IP addressing, you are assigned a specific IP address, as opposed to dynamic IP addressing, whereby your IP address changes whenever you log in to your IPS. If you have Static IP addressing, you need to enter additional information, including a netmask, default router address, and DNS server address, for your PlayStation®2 system to access the Internet.
