An instrument for measuring the vital capacity of the lungs, or the volume of air which can be expelled from the chest after the deepest possible inspiration. Cf. Pneumatometer.
An instrument that is used to measure the volume of air that is breathed in or out. It can be used to assess how well the lung is working, for example by measuring the maximum volume of air that can be breathed out (vital capacity).
Device used to measure lung volumes, e.g. tidal volume, vital capacity. Cannot be used for residual volume.
