An intense fear of social situations. The fear arises when the individual believes that he or she may be judged, scrutinized or humiliated by others. The anxiety can be specific to one social situation or can be more general in nature.
Also called social phobia, an anxiety disorder involving extreme worry that one will be embarrassed, ridiculed, or humiliated in an everyday social situation.
Associated with an intense and persistent fear of situations in which one is exposed to possible scrutiny or judgment.
