The maneuver in which a car behind the leader of a draft pulls out to break the vacuum. It provides the driver an extra burst of speed for passing.

A slingshot is a maneuver in which the driver of the trailing vehicle in a draft line breaks the draft by turning (usually to the left if on an oval track), propelling the car around the leader.

A maneuver in which a car following the leader in a draft suddenly steers around it, breaking the vacuum; this provides an extra burst of speed that allows the second car to take the lead. See "Drafting."

The process by which many space exploration satellites and probes get into deep space. A space exploration satellite can enter the gravitational field of a large planetary body like the Earth or Mars, and use the force of that planet's gravity to give the satellite momentum. Basically, the satellite swings around a planet and uses the energy from the planet's gravitational pull to send it into space. This uses the planet's gravitational pull like a slingshot.

A slingshot, also called a shanghai, a catapult (not to be confused with either the catapult siege engine or shepherd's sling), or a beanshooter is a small hand-powered projectile weapon. It has a pocket for holding the projectile. Each end of the pocket is attached to a rubber band, which is attached to the ends of a fork-shaped frame.
