Definitions for "Sidelights"
A sailing ship carries two of these between sunset and sunrise: one green, to starboard; one red, to port.
Port (red) and starboard (green) lights. Lights face towards the bow showing an unbroken light, each with an arc of 112.5° from centre line.
Red and green navigation lights visible to another vessel approaching from the side or head-on (also called combination lights); red indicates a vessel's port side; green indicates a vessel's starboard side
