A vibrating screen or sieve that strains cuttings out of the mud before the mud is pumped back down into the borehole.
n: a vibrating screen used to remove cuttings from the circulating fluid in rotary drilling operations. Also called a shaker.
In the mud equipment industry, mechanical devices (vibrating & rotating cylindrical screens) used to screen solids from the mud, with the entire circulated volume passing through or over the screens. See "Primary Separator".
