(1) A semi-conductor or high resistance material used to reduce stress concentrations at the surface of stranded conductors or edges of outer shielding tapes. May be extruded plastic, rubber-filled tapes, carbon black paper, or thin aluminum foil laminated to paper (metallized paper). In the U.S., a screen at the conductor is frequently called a strand shield although a shielded cable frequently has no strand shield. (3) In cable manufacturing, a woven metal screen or equivalent device which is installed across the flow of the molten plastic (stock) between the tip of the screen and the die and supported by a breaker plate to strain out contaminates or to increase the back pressure or both.
Woven metal screens are installed across the flow of plastic in an extruder. They are located between the tip of the screw and the die. Supported by a breaker plate, the screens strain out contaminants and increase back pressure.

Screen is a full-screen window manager that multiplexes a physical terminal between several processes, typically interactive shells. Each virtual terminal provides the functions of the DEC VT100 terminal and, in addition, several control functions from the ANSI X
X Server screen. A screen usually corresponds to a display device; however, Cygwin/X's X Server corresponds each screen to one Windows window. A single instance of the Cygwin/X X Server may have several screens.
Generic term that refers to the objects created using the screen editor. Screens usually contain collections of widgets. At runtime, a screen can be opened as a form or as a window.
