Definitions for "Ruach HaKodesh"
lit., 'a holy spirit': An elevated level of spiritual inspiration or insight with which a person may be blessed. It is a higher than a "normal" spiritual awareness, but it is not as high a level as open prophecy ("nevuah"). The open prophecy experienced by the biblical Hebrew prophets ("nevi'im") was made less accessible after the redemption of the Jews from their 70 years of exile in Babylon. But many of the great righteous Sages ("tzadikim") of the Second Temple period still achieved a level of constant spiritual inspiration (ruach hakodesh).
