Definitions for "Restricted Use Pesticide"
A registered pesticide that has been classified for restricted use under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act for some or all of its applications because it is toxic and requires special handling. Restricted use pesticides may be purchased and applied only by trained, certified applicators or by individuals under their direct supervision and may be utilized only for those uses covered by the certified applicator's certification.
A pesticide classification used by the US EPA that allows applications of a pesticide to be made under the supervision of a certified pesticide applicator.
A designation given to a pesticide by the EPA which restricts purchase and use of that pesticide to certified applicators. The designation is given to pesticides which pose a potential hazard to applicators, the general public or to the environment or may be highly toxic.
