The House or Senate's decision to return a bill to a committee that previously reported it out. A bill that is recommitted is dead.

A common expression for the action whereby a bill that has been reported out of committee is returned to that committee or to another committee for further consideration. The proper motion is to "commit" the bill to the committee.
