A thin metal, plastic, or rubber sheet having a light sensitive coating used to carry the image required for printing. The image is exposed on the plate in a vacuum frame using a light of a certain wavelength and developed in a processor. A protective coating of gum arabic solution is then applied.
A sheet of steel upon which the engraver etches the note design. The plate is positioned on a press and each sheet of paper is forced into the fine lines of the plate to transfer ink.
A surface that bears a reproduction of the set type and artwork of a book, from which the pages are printed.
